Grenache
2018
Buyers must be at least 18 years old and located outside a designated dry zone to purchase alcohol.
Soft and textural, this wine is jampacked with raspberry fruits, liquored cherries, and black pepper spice. Tannins are long and tactile with fine acidity providing direction and length. This wine is a keeper and will reward with cellaring five to seven years.
Sourced from a premium, single vineyard in the tiny hamlet of Greenock, on the western-ranges of the Barossa Valley, this vineyard provides us with both 50-year-old, bush-vine Grenache along with a small replanting on young bush-vine Grenache. Grown on deep red clay soils with the occasional pockets of ironstone and sandy loam, the complexity of the soils, and contrast between the vine age creates shows through to the glass.
Each batch open-fermented with 30% whole bunches, 70% destemmed on top, with foot-stomping to break up the whole berries/bunches, matured for 18 months in used oak. Light, bright colour; a powerful red berry grenache that takes no prisoners.
